How do I find out if Xfinity is down in my area? ›

You can check for outages using the Xfinity app on your mobile phone. Simply open the Xfinity app and outage information appears.

Unplug the power from your modem or gateway, wait one minute, and then plug it back in. You can also do so remotely if your modem is responsive by performing a restart. Check for local outages using the Xfinity Status Center Outage Map.

Xfinity outages can be caused by bad weather, power outages, cut fiber lines in the wider network, and much more. Multiple short but frequent outages, however, are likely caused by one of two things: Network upgrades in your neighborhood or faulty equipment or wiring at your home.

Downtime. What is Downtime and how does it work? Setting up a scheduled pause through Downtime allows you to automatically pause WiFi access over your home network during scheduled times for all devices assigned to a person.

If you're an Xfinity X1 customer, your TV Boxes will automatically restart once per day to ensure that you have all of the latest software. This restart, also known as Daily Update Time, happens by default between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM local time.

Troubleshooting steps

Hand-tighten all cable connections to make sure they're not loose. If using an HDMI cable to connect the X1 TV Box to the TV, confirm that it's plugged into the proper locations. Power on both the TV and the X1 TV Box. Confirm that the TV is set to the proper input.

Using the Xfinity app (available to download on Apple App Store or Google Play), you can select WiFi, then select Run a test, and then scroll down to the list of connected devices.
